Forum lockdown

Postby Ace12GA on Thu Jan 14, 2010 10:40 am

As I mentioned earlier this month, I was going to start locking down parts of the message board to reduce the spam. Its been done. Silly Hats Only remains open, as do the Movie and Games review sections. The news area will still allow replys as always. The rest of the board is locked down, or removed. All closed sections remain available to read.

If you came here looking for info on AHL, you should probably head on over to the http://www.ministryofaction.net boards. If you're an old school AQ2'er, drop on into the SHO section and make a post. There is still a lot of interesting posts here in the AQ2 section. You can also check out the archive of the old message board, http://aq2zone.actionmods.com/omb/cgi-b ... matebb.cgi for some nostalgia. Its been a good run, more than 10 years for both AQ2 and AHL, and this board in one form or another. This very board has been going since 2005, nearly a full 5 years, which I think is a great run.

This is probably the lead in to a full shut down at the end of this year. Honestly it depends on a few factors, mainly user traffic. If the board starts getting used again, I will leave it up, otherwise its going down at renewal time next year; which is right about now.

Its sad, but the only traffic this year has been all spam bots. Most of the last 4 months of 2009 were the same.

Gotta face the truth, sadly. The spambots are winning.

We should prepare a sendoff ceremony or something.
Yknow. Blowing the servers up or HCing them or something.
Cutting the network cables with throwing knives.
