AHL Skeleton - I need help

Postby PsyCHo on Mon Mar 02, 2009 7:41 pm

I have a question. Is there some easy, quick way of moving bones order? Or do I have to do everything with notepad?

Here is pic showing what I have: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb27 ... 2/pic1.jpg
And here's showing what I want: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb27 ... 2/pic2.jpg

Those c-something bones are coat bones that I have to move from after spine bones to before spine bones, or AHL won't move coat along with legs.

I have one way to do it, but it's quite time consuming. It involves using notepad to cut bones from one place, paste them in right place, then change in notepad bones order, then re-assign verties to right bones.

And no, I can't make skeleton from scratch, since I already have whole model on it, I try to convert some non-AHL model to AHL. And this little thing is making coat not-moving, which makes me  .

You have to use the coat skeleton, and assign the verts of the mesh to the AHL coat skeleton. Thats pretty much the only way. The coat model uses a custom skeleton.

Do I have to read your answer as "No, there's no quicker way then what you do"?

Because my way works, it's just little time consuming.

Yeah, you have to read "do all 200+ anims in notepad". It's the way I made the coat skeleton too. Ofcourse, you could do some fancy regex'ing and a bit of search&replace, but I found it more reliable to do all by hand. A fuckup is easily made and hard to track down.

After you've changed all the smd's in *pad, you still have to work through all the lower body anims and put actual coat movement in.

Might I ask, why aren't you using the AHL coat anims (apart from them being old and sucky ofcourse) ? It might be easier to edit those to your needs.

I don't have to work with all anims. I only had to put coat bones above spine bones in model.smd with notepad (which took some time), anims were so nice they are working with other order of bones, as long as they are called same and joined in same way (you know, arm to spine, hand to arm).

I want to use old skeleton, since model came with it along with some spicy anims.

Well, I had some free time today, and I nearly finished him. I have to decide what shooting anims I want to use, and he's done. Probably. Unless I see I screwed with assigning verties to bones. Then some more then copy, paste and compile will be needed.

2 bad there's no quicker way, it's kinda time consuming. Skeletons with order where coat bones are under spine bones are 5 minutes work.
