Well, the people on the north american continent call it soccer. Even though it's the original type of football, nowadays known as european football, cos you americans fucked it up. :suspicious:

Canadian here mate. I was just giving you the gears.

What Americans call Football, is just rugby for pussies. Well, more like they took rugby, a proper sport, made it take a whole bloody day to play one game, and added tonnes of padding and helmets, and crap. Can't bitch about the cheerleaders though, that addition was brilliant. Basically an incredibly boring game with hot woman jumping around on the sides.

Soccer here in Aus too cause we already have a sport called football.

Yeah watched it a bit, but "football" is really not my thing. I just love following sport were countries play each other. Too bad Germany killed us 4-0 so early in our pool. We never recovered.

Although the feign trips make me cough blood there's no denying the incredible skill in the game...

Oh and the vuvuzela fun. BZZZZZZZZBZBBZZZBBBBBZZZZZZZZBZZZZZZZZZBZB... :ruhroh:

Quoted for the damn truth :)

I tried watching American Football a couple of times .. the stop-and-go drives me up the wall.

Since I'm an Afrikaner I'll be rooting for Dutch on Sunday.

Adding safety features to a game almost always makes it more violent and dangerous. Boxing vs MMA is a great example. Boxers get the goddam christ beat out of them whereas MMA fighters 1) care far more about every attack on them and 2) go down in one solid blow rather than fighting 12 rounds and getting propped back up on their feet should they go unconscious for a bit.

Look at the injury rates for American football; it's insane. These guys run as hard and fast as they possibly can into someone else with no regard for anyone's safety because they think their pads are going to prevent brain damage or spinal injuries.

Then compare that to soccer where gently brushing against someone means you have to go in for an MRI.

Ref did a great job considering the disgraceful play of the Dutch. All the yellow cards were correct and you should have had 9 men by the end of the first half! He was clearly trying very hard not to book people in the second half despite it being just as bad.

Really think it overshadowed the Dutch effort getting to the final.

Right. Perhaps we should have been with 9. But the same counts for the spanish. Besides, not all cards were correct.
But, like i said, Robben should have scored.
